Lean On Me, the second movie we were required to watch. The colour and the way the movie starts didn’t attract me. However, I think the protagonist, Joe Clark, was able to balance the dull of the movie. I personally think this movie lack of entertainment value, in spite of the the video quality (seriously it’s like an 80’s!). It is a serious movie, but some of the actions of Joe Clark can make us laugh out loud. He was crazy with his works, super serious but somehow has funny element in it (I think all school principal should be like that.)
A teacher is a leader when he enters the class. A teacher also should be creative enough to make the students feel interesting to study and learn. I think creativity is the best approach dealing with students who are lazy and not interested with the syllabus. The music teacher for example, who modified the school song, has made everybody respect the school song and sing it enthusiastically. As a future teacher, I’m aware that there will be a lot of challenges from students, pressures from admin and principal who want the best from the students and the teachers as well.
My first impression when I watched this movie, it reminds me of my first secondary school principal. He was very strict. He was able to control the discipline of the school, and until he left the situation still was under controlled. He suddenly was transferred to a boarding school due to his achievements and the school really affected by his moved.

It is not easy to teach students who don’t have any interest in study. However, by using a good approach, we might see a bit of improvement in their discipline and their curriculum achievements. Discipline is very important. I also realize that as teachers, we are dealing with humans who have feeling. Therefore, being tolerable is vital in facing the hitch that gets in the way.
